Join the San Bernardino City Unified School District high school students as they create awareness about the dangers of fentanyl in their own words. Their message is, "too many kids like us are dying from drug overdoses, so what you're about to hear can save your life!" Fentanyl is a deadly synthetic opioid that is being pressed into fake pills or cut into heroin, cocaine, and other street drugs to drive addiction. Just one pill can kill. Fake pills with fentanyl are made to look like OxyContin®, Xanax®, Adderall®, and other pharmaceuticals. These fake pills can be easily bought online and contain no legitimate medicine.
Fentanyl is also made in a rainbow of colors so it looks like candy. It only takes a very small dose of fentanyl – 2 milligrams – to be lethal, such as the amount found on the tip of a pencil. Fentanyl use can cause confusion, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, changes in pupil size, cold and clammy skin, coma, and respiratory failure leading to death. Remember, one pill can kill. If you or someone you know needs help, please reach out to an adult you trust or call the County Department of Behavioral Health’s substance use 24-hour helpline at (800) 968-2636. Please don't do drugs. We need you alive! If you're struggling with drugs, reach and get help right away.
